Objective and scope of the project

The main objective of the project was to create a state-of-the-art precipitation chemistry monitoring system providing the most complete information possible on pollutant deposition in Poland, made available through user-friendly tools.
As part of the project, the following activities were carried out aiming at obtaining high-quality data on pollutant deposition to the ground:

  • the concept of modernization and optimization of deposition measurements in Poland was developed;
  • the concept of a system and procedures for deposition measurement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) was developed;
  • guidelines for performing atmospheric deposition assessments were developed;
  • the website you are on, for visualising and sharing atmospheric deposition data was designed and developed;
  • deposition measurement equipment was purchased

From 2021 to 2024, the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, in cooperation with the Norwegian partner – The Climate and Environmental Research Institute NILU, implemented the project “Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience”.
