The Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection is committed to ensuring the accessibility of its mobile application in accordance with the Act of April 4, 2019, on the digital accessibility of public sector websites and mobile applications.

The accessibility declaration applies to the Air Quality in Poland app for the Android operating system (version 1.3).

Digital Accessibility Status

The mobile application is partially compliant with the annex to the Act on Digital Accessibility of Public Sector Websites and Mobile Applications of April 4, 2019, due to non-compliance or exceptions listed below.

Non-compliance with the Annex

  1. Some label components and navigation elements may cause difficulties for users with screen readers.
  2. Unclear screen reader focus order: On some screens, the screen reader focus is set illogically, which may cause difficulties in understanding and fluid usage of the app for screen reader users.
  3. Interface elements of the app not supported by standard screen reader navigation gestures: Some interface elements do not respond to standard screen reader navigation gestures, which may affect the fluency and intuitiveness of the app.

Everyone has the right to request digital accessibility for this mobile application or its elements. When making such a request, provide:

  • your full name,
  • your contact details (e.g., phone number, email),
  • an exact description of the digitally inaccessible element or content,
  • a description of the problem and how resolving it in the most convenient way for you would look.

We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but no later than 7 days after receiving it.

If this deadline is too short for us, we will inform you about it. In this information, we will provide a new deadline by which we will fix the reported errors or prepare the information in an alternative way. This new deadline will not exceed 2 months.

If we are unable to provide the digital accessibility of the mobile application or the content requested, we will offer you alternative access to them.


Handling Requests and Complaints Related to Accessibility

If, in response to your request for digital accessibility, we refuse to ensure the requested digital accessibility, and you disagree with this refusal, you have the right to submit a complaint.

You also have the right to submit a complaint if you disagree with the alternative access method we proposed in response to your request for digital accessibility.

Architectural Accessibility

Address of the headquarters: Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, ul. Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r. 3, 02-362 Warsaw.

The building is located in the city center, in the Ochota district, between Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r. and Białobrzeska streets.

The GIOŚ headquarters can be reached by public transport, buses number 136, 154, 167, 172, 186, 208, 414, 521, and trams number 1, 7, 9, 14, 15, 25, with a stop at “Bitwy Warszawskiej” station.

The main entrance to the GIOŚ headquarters is located on Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r. street. Entry to the premises is possible through a gate on Białobrzeska street — after prior notification.

There are public parking spaces in front of the main entrance to the building. Above the main entrance, there is a sign identifying the institution (Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection). The building is not adapted for wheelchair users.

In the main hall, on the left side, there is a security checkpoint. Every visitor and guest is registered in the entry/exit log. These individuals are escorted to their meeting place by the person they are scheduled to meet.

The GIOŚ building is accessible to guide and assistance dogs. The building does not have an induction loop or devices that assist blind or visually impaired people. Additionally, there are no Braille signs. The hallways and elevators are adapted for people with disabilities (elevator buttons are labeled with Braille). The elevators have a voice announcement system that informs about the elevator's position and its stop on a particular floor.

The building is guarded 24/7.


Communication and Information Accessibility

To use the services of a sign language interpreter or guide-interpreter when handling matters at the office, the authorized person must notify the office at least 3 working days before the planned event (i.e., the planned visit to the office), excluding emergency situations.

Notifications can be made in one of the following ways:

  • by mail (3 days from the receipt of the notification by the office);
  • by phone - via a third party at (+48 22) 36-92-630;
  • by fax at (+48 22) 825-98-15

The notification should also include information about the preferred method of communication (PJM, SJM, SKOGN) and a brief description of the matter that the meeting will concern.

The interpreter service for people with disabilities, as defined by the Act of August 27, 1997 on Vocational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled Persons (Journal of Laws 1997 No. 123, item 776), is free of charge.
